THE IDEA
What the reason to name album like "Get Fun Key"? Is it only the word game, or we've mentioned something behind it? Actually it's the game, and we are playing this game with our horns. Fun in this case mean more like joy of playing.
While we were touring, playing gigs, rehearsals the lot of ideas about new arrangements came to us. Not every music sounds great on brass instruments, for us at least. Of course you can play everything technically but aesthetically not.
So researching in this manner we came to the odd alliance of baroque and modern funk and reggae rhythms, not payed in one tune of course... yet.
Shall we then separate them and make a "clear style" records? We decide not to. Why not join the music that sounds good and make you cheerful in one program that is easy to listen straight through?
As we think, "The Baroque Music" doesn't mean boring or hard to understand for "modern ears". It surely have huge degree of groove and power dressed in beautiful baroque finery. Let's think that all of it is just The Music. Let it be a kind of suite.
AT WORK
We selected our famous tunes and Pavel (trombone) arranged it for Kronwerk Brass Quintet taking in account our wishes, then we started rehearsing. First we thought make it pure brass, for we was really impressed by perfect record of the First Brass with all those imitating, but soon it was clear that with drums in "modern" part it will be a lot lively and easier.
Beside, we've met Grisha — great person and strong drummer, who came with a fresh ideas how to add "drive" not only into the funky part but also inserted a sparks of gold into the ancient tunes! That was a great pleasure work with him, he was immediately accepted as a member of Kronwerk Brass.
IN STUDIO
The studio work was as usual challenging and intensive. Lot of question was about overall sound of album, should it be the same for all pieces, or we'd better "styling" a sound a little. But better to hear what we have done.
WHOM FOR?
Not really simple question. First you should like sound of brass, it's only the necessary condition. While it's not an "easy listening" in a nature, but you unlikely to be involved in serious mind blowing games. Sure, such a names like Handel, Bach, Mozart associated more with "power of simplicity" for us. It's the reason to say that we have album for everyone, everyone ready to listen at least.
